Stock Market Update

[BRIEFING.COM] The major indices moved mostly sideways over the last half hour.

The heavily-weighted S&P 500 information technology sector (+0.2%) is alone in positive territory while the remaining ten sectors show losses ranging from 0.3% to 1.8%. The health care sector is among the worst performers, trading 0.9% lower. Cigna (CI 320.83, -15.17, -4.5%) is an influential loser following a Bloomberg report that it was in talks to takeover Humana (HUM 263.58, -3.55, -1.3%).

Separately, the CBOE Volatility Index is up 5.5% or 0.99 to 19.02.
