Stock Market Update

[BRIEFING.COM] The major indices trade near session highs. The S&P 500 trades 0.2% higher and the Nasdaq Composite is up 0.4% from yesterday. 

Mega cap stocks have build on gains through the session, boosting index performance. Alphabet (GOOG 170.62, +2.29, +1.4%) is an influential winner in front of its earnings report this afternoon. Microsoft (MSFT 428.78, +2.19, +0.5%), Amazon.com (AMZN 189.26, +0.87, +0.5%), Meta Platforms (META 587.27, +9.11, +1.6%), and Broadcom (AVGO 174.25, +2.23, +1.3%) are standouts from the space.

Gains in the aforementioned names have boosted their respective S&P 500 sector. The communication services (+1.1%) and information technology (+0.5%) sectors are the top performers at this point.
