[BRIEFING.COM] The three major indices show declines ranging from 1.2% to 2.2%. The equal-weighted S&P 500 trades 1.2% lower and 29 of the 30 Dow components are in the red.
Earlier, the S&P 500 energy sector was trading up, but all 11 sectors show declines now. The consumer discretionary sector is the worst performer, down 2.3%. Six sectors are lower by more than 1.0%.
Decliners have a 7-to-1 lead over advancers at the NYSE and a 4-to-1 lead at the Nasdaq.
