Mega caps lag, small caps surge

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite are struggling to maintain a positive posture while the Russell 2000 surges nearly 3.0%.

Some of the weightiest stocks in the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite show solid losses after outperforming in recent sessions.

NVIDIA (NVDA 130.82, -4.02, -3.0%), Meta Platforms (META 522.26, -12.46, -2.3%), Apple (AAPL 229.46, -3.53, -1.5%), Microsoft (MSFT 457.56, -8.95, -1.9%), Amazon.com (AMZN 196.75, -3.10, -1.7%), Alphabet (GOOG 189.73, -2.99, -1.5%), and Broadcom (AVGO 1707.24, -37.44, -2.2%) are standouts in that respect.

Meanwhile, the Russell 2000 has been boosted by outperforming regional bank components. This price action has also benefitted the SPDR S&P Regional Banking ETF (KRE), which shows a 3.0% gain.
