Stock Market Update

[BRIEFING.COM]  The S&P 500 (+0.3%) and Nasdaq Composite (+0.7%) moved higher, hitting fresh session highs in recent trading. 

Growth stocks, mega caps, and semiconductor stocks have powered the index-level improvement. The Russell 3000 Growth Index sports a 0.4% gain, the Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF (MGK) is trading 0.6% higher, and the PHLX Semiconductor Index (SOX) shows a 1.4% increase. 

Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (-0.1%) and Russell 2000 (-0.5%) trade down and market is negative. Decliners lead advancers by a 5-to-3 margin at the NYSE and at the Nasdaq.
