[BRIEFING.COM] Small and mid cap stocks are climbing alongside their larger peers. The Russell 2000 is 1.1% higher and the S&P Mid Cap 400 is 1.0% higher.
The small and mid cap indices have lagged the three major indices so far this month. The Russell 2000 shows a 7.6% decline in August and the S&P Mid Cap 400 is down 5.0% so far this month. The S&P 500, Nasdaq Composite, and Dow Jones Industrial Average show losses ranging from 2.0% to 2.9% so far in August.
Elsewhere, the CBOE Volatility Index has dropped below 20.00 after briefly topping 65.0 last week.
