Stock Market Update

[BRIEFING.COM] The major averages hold slight gains just after midday, with little changed at the index level after a late morning recovery from opening losses. 

A widening gain in the information technology sector (+0.3%) supports the advance. The sector is supported by strength across chipmakers, as the PHLX Semiconductor Index is now up 0.9% after facing an early loss. 

NVIDIA (NVDA 186.84, +0.26, +0.14%) trades just slightly higher after notching a new all-time high level earlier in the session.
