[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+1.2%), DJIA (+0.9%), and Nasdaq Composite (+1.7%) hold their opening gains amid broad strength and mega-cap outperformance.
The Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF holds a 1.6% gain, with all of the "magnificent seven" names trading higher today.
Small-cap names are also outperforming today as the market eases up on its defensive posture from Friday. The small-cap Russell 2000 is up 2.2%, and the S&P Mid Cap 400 is up 1.7%.
Elsewhere, the energy sector (+1.0%) holds a nice early gain, supported by a $0.96 increase in the price of oil to $59.86, an increase of 1.7%. Crude oil fell 4% on Friday as trade tensions between the U.S. and China renewed global growth concerns.
