Oracle lags despite improvement in broader sector
Dow +176.23 at 46128.26, Nasdaq -12.32 at 22550.24, S&P +10.14 at 6639.20

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+0.1%), Nasdaq Composite (-0.1%), and DJIA (+0.3%) once again sit mixed as eight S&P 500 sectors trade higher.

While the information technology sector (-0.2%) is significantly improved from earlier levels, Oracle (ORCL 291.39, -21.61, -6.90%) is still one of the worst-performing names in the S&P 500 today following its AI World Conference, despite the company delivering bullish commentary and outlooks.

Investors appeared to focus on Oracle's commentary that it is willing to accelerate investments in the near term, potentially pressuring margins and near-term earnings. As a result, the sell-off reflects concerns that short-term profitability could be impacted even amid a very strong long-term growth outlook.
