Mega-cap and tech names are off to a running start, with the top-weighted information technology sector (+0.9%) near the top of the leaderboard as strength in semiconductor names pushes the PHLX Semiconductor Index (+1.7%) higher.
Apple (AAPL 258.74, +6.45, +2.56%) is also a standout in the technology sector, with Loop Capital upgrading the stock to Buy from Hold and raising its price target to $315 from $226 amid strong demand for the iPhone 17.
Strength across other mega-cap names has the communication services (+1.0%) and consumer discretionary (+0.8%) sectors moving higher, while the industrials (+0.8%) and materials (+0.7%) sectors hold similar gains.
