Energy and consumer discretionary sectors lag
Dow -61.47 at 46633.29, Nasdaq +7.27 at 22948.95, S&P -2.32 at 6737.95

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (-0.1%), Nasdaq Composite (-0.1%), and DJIA (-0.2%) remain near their flatlines following a decrease in sector strength since the open. 

The energy sector (-1.5%) lags today as the price of oil has dipped $0.31 to $61.38 per barrel, a decrease of 0.6%. 

Elsewhere, the consumer discretionary sector (-0.7%) also weighs on the major averages. Tesla (TSLA 447.64, -5.61, -1.24%) trades lower today ahead of an expected product unveiling, the announcement of which sent the stock higher yesterday. 

Ford Motor (F 11.90, -0.79, -6.22%) is the worst-performing name in the S&P 500, dipping after The Wall Street Journal reported that a fire at an aluminum supplier plant could disrupt the business for months.
