[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+0.4%) and Nasdaq Composite (+0.7%) are now within close range of yesterday morning's record high levels, while the DJIA (+0.2%) has also moved into positive territory for the day.
Six S&P 500 sectors now hold gains, with the information technology sector (+1.1%) expanding its early advance.
The energy sector (-0.6%) is the top laggard so far despite a $0.81 increase in the price of oil (+1.3%) to $62.53 per barrel.
The consumer staples sector (-0.5%) also faces some pressure after finishing yesterday's session as the top-performing S&P 500 sector with a 0.9% gain.
