[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+0.2%), Nasdaq Composite (+0.5%), and DJIA (-0.2%) sit in a mixed fashion shortly after the open, broader market weakness weighing against a strong early showing from the information technology sector (+0.8%).
The sector benefits from nice early gains in NVIDIA (NVDA 188.11, +3.07, +1.66%) and Broadcom (AVGO 343.44, +7.03, +2.09%), while its other mega-cap components also hold more modest gains.
While the Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF shows a 0.5% gain, the strength is concentrated in the technology sector, as the four "magnificent seven" names found in the communication services (-0.4%) and consumer discretionary (-0.3%) sectors trade at or beneath their baselines.
Meanwhile, the health care (+0.3%), materials (+0.3%), and utilities (+0.1%) sectors hold modest gains.
