[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (-0.2%), Nasdaq Composite (-0.2%), and DJIA (-0.4%) steadily tick lower as early mixed strength fades into broader market weakness.
The defensive consumer staples (+0.3%), health care (+0.1%), and utilities (+0.1%) sectors hold modest gains, while NVIDIA (NVDA 194.05, +4.94, +2.61%) and Oracle (ORCL 295.18, +6.55, +2.27%) keep the information technology sector (+0.1%) oscillating around its flat line.
The other seven S&P 500 sectors move lower as decliners now outpace advancers by a greater than 2-to-1 ratio on the NYSE and a roughly 7-to-4 margin on the Nasdaq.
