[BRIEFING.COM] The major averages continue to trade with modest losses as only the consumer staples sector (+0.1%) trades above its flat line.
Homebuilder names are having a particularly rough session, with the iShares U.S. Home Construction ETF losing 2.6% today, which widens its week-to-date loss to 7.4% and pushes it into negative territory for the year.
Bloomberg reports that since President Trump admonished major homebuilders for not building more homes in a Truth Social post on Sunday, the group has seen its worst sell-off since the sweeping tariff announcements in April.
The weakness contributes to a 0.9% loss in the consumer discretionary sector.
