Futures point to lower open
Market is Closed
[BRIEFING.COM] S&P futures vs fair value: -22.00. Nasdaq futures vs fair value: -113.00.

The stock market is on track for a lower open this morning.

Investors are not overly enthused by an end to the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, whether that be because the highly anticipated conclusion was priced in to previous sessions this week or because the bill is a temporary solution through the end of January.

Hawkish commentary from Fed officials has dampened the market's expectations for another rate cut in December, and the mega-cap cohort is mixed in response to some high-profile earnigns beofre the open.

The major averages still hold solid gains for the week, but with the exception of the DJIA, it has largely been a sideways trudge following Monday's rally.
