Tesla slips below 50-day moving average
Dow -426.10 at 47828.51, Nasdaq -400.12 at 23006.36, S&P -73.74 at 6777.17

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (-1.1%), Nasdaq Composite (-1.8%), and DJIA (-0.8%) have at least temporarily stabilized from a steady retreat to session lows. 

The consumer discretionary sector (-2.1%) is now today's worst performer as Tesla (TSLA 401.73, -28.87, -6.70%) trades sharply lower, moving below its 50-day moving average (428.61). 

The company announced a recall of its Powerwall 2 AC battery power system due to fire and burn hazards. In more favorable news, Bloomberg reports that the company is working on a plan to add Apple (AAPL 272.64, -0.83, -0.30%) CarPlay to its vehicles.

The Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF is now down 1.8% as losses continue to mount across the market's largest names.
