Market participants are responding to President Trump announcing in a Truth Social Post that the tariff on steel and aluminum imports from Canada will be increased to 50% (from 25%), starting tomorrow.
Separately, the CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) is up 1.2%, or 0.33, to 28.24 as participants prepare for more downside moves in the market.
