[BRIEFING.COM] The stock market opened lower as investors take advantage of higher levels after yesterday's huge surge. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is nearly 1,000 points lower after moving up almost 3,000 points yesterday.
The market-cap weighted S&P 500 is 2.9% lower and the equal-weighted S&P 500 is 2.7% lower.
Lingering uncertainty about the trade policy situation has contributed to the early selling bias. Countries have until July 9 to make a deal with the US before the higher, country-specific duties go back into effect.
Ten of the 11 S&P 500 sectors are lower led by energy (-5.2%), technology (-4.2%), and discretionary (-3.6%).
