[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (-0.1%) continues hovering near its flat line, making for a continuation of a quiet start to the Wednesday session.
Granted, it is very early in the trading day, but it would not be a shock to see the market tread water in a narrow range as participants await this evening's release of quarterly results from chip giant NVIDIA (NVDA 135.39, -0.11, -0.1%). These results will be scrutinized on two fronts, as the market will be eager to see if the strong demand for the company's products is sustained and what is the impact of the restrictions on sales to China. Furthermore, the results will be extrapolated to evaluate the overall state of the semiconductor industry group.
Like the broader market, chipmakers are little changed as a group with the PHLX Semiconductor Index shedding 0.1%.
