Stock Market Update

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+0.5%) hovers just above its low while the Dow is back at its flat line after a brief dip into negative territory.

Last night's news about a court challenge to President Trump's tariff agenda contributed to a strong start, but that higher start did not invite additional buying. To the contrary, equities have been on the defensive since the opening bell.

Looking at sector standing, there are no notable weak spots, considering the worst-performing group (communication services) is down just 0.1%. However, on the upside, only four sectors—technology (+1.0%), health care (+0.5%), consumer discretionary (+0.7%), and real estate (+0.7%)—are up more than 0.2%.
