[BRIEFING.COM] The major averages started Wednesday on a slightly higher note with the S&P 500 up 0.3%.
Nine sectors display early gains, but only three are up more than 0.5%. Energy (+0.7%) is seeing an early continuation of its recent strength while the consumer discretionary sector (+0.7%) also outperforms in the early going. On the downside, health care (-0.4%) is the worst performer, extending this week's loss to 2.5%.
Treasuries are holding onto their early gains with the 10-yr yield down three basis points at 4.36%.
