[BRIEFING.COM] The major averages remain mixed as the S&P 500 (-0.2%) and NASDAQ Composite (-0.8%) have rebounded from their lowest levels of the day while the Dow (+1.0%) outperforms.
Technology (-1.4%) underperforms with top component NVIDIA (NVDA 152.25, -5.74, -3.63%) leading a slide in chip stocks that have the PHLX Semiconductor Index down 1.6%
On the contrary, the materials sector (+2.1%) outperforms as top component Linde (LIN 477.33, +8.15, +1.74%) benefits from yesterday's upgrade to Buy from Neutral by Citigroup.
Additionally, defensive sectors such as healthcare (+1.9%) and consumer staples (+1.3%) are among the top performing sectors.
