Stock Market Update

[BRIEFING.COM] The major averages continue to trade mixed as the technology sector (-1.3%) faces an early loss following earnings from NXP Semi (NXPI 223.63, -4.64, -2.0%).

The communication services sector (-0.6%) also faces early pressure, with top component Alphabet (GOOG 190.00, -1.16, -0.6%) trading lower ahead of its earnings tomorrow, and Netflix (NFLX 1212.60, -20.67, -1.7%) retreating after posting a 2.0% gain yesterday. Shares of AT&T (T 27.63, +0.25, +0.9%) trade higher ahead of its earnings report tomorrow. 

Elsewhere in the sector, cellular providers continue to perform following an optimistic earnings report from Verizon (VZ 43.14, +0.65, +1.5%) yesterday.
