Stock Market Update

[BRIEFING.COM] The major indices trade at their best levels of the day, with the Nasdaq Composite (+0.4%) leading the S&P 500 (+0.2%) and the DJIA (+0.1%).

There have been no major developments since the opening to thwart the major averages from a slow upwards tick, though the lack of headlines is also preventing the advance from kicking into a higher gear.

While earnings reports before the open have not had a substantial impact on the market as a whole, there are still some notable individual moves in response to earnings today.

Humana (HUM 243.80, +11.18, +4.8%) is trading higher today after the company beat EPS expectations by $0.35 and beat on revenues. The company raised its FY25 EPS and revenues above consensus. 

The earnings beat has helped alleviate recent downside pressure on health care providers today, supporting a 0.2% advance in the health care sector.
