Stock Market Update

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+0.2%) sports a slight gain for the day, while the Nasdaq Composite (+0.4%) outperforms and the DJIA (flat) lags.

The market's wait-and-see disposition ahead of the FOMC decision at 14:00 ET has kept the major averages near their opening levels. Sector strength remains even, with the same five sectors trading in positive territory for the majority of the session.

There is no clear performance trend as it pertains to stock size yet today. Small-cap stocks are outperforming the market with a 0.5% gain in the Russell 2000, while mega-caps also slightly outperform, as evidenced by a 0.4% advance in the Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF.
