[BRIEFING.COM] The stock market has opened the day on a mixed note with little change in the major indices.
Five sectors trade in the green led by energy (+0.9%), health care (+0.7%), and materials (+0.3%).
The technology sector (+0.2%) opened to modest gains after yesterday's loss (-0.8%), and in particular chip stocks are outperforming with the PHLX Semiconductor Index up 1.4%. Reports of the Trump administration restricting planning to restrict AI chip exports to Thailand over fears of increased competition with Chinese AI developers saw the index close with a loss of 1.9% yesterday.
Top component NVIDIA (NVDA 159.05, +0.81, +0.5%) sees early growth, with Intel (INTC 22.92, +0.92, +4.2%), Advanced Micro Devices (AMD 136.48, +1.68, +1.3%) and Marvell (MRVL 72.32, +0.77, +1.1%) also posting notable gains.
