[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (-0.5%), Nasdaq Composite (-0.5%), and DJIA (-0.5%) hold similar losses as the market nears midday.
Mega-cap underperformance continues to weigh on the market, though today's losses in the market's largest names are more modest than yesterday.
The Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF is down 0.4% today, with the S&P Mid Cap 400 (-0.3%) holding a similar loss. Meanwhile, the Russell 2000 (-0.1%) trades just below its opening level, maintaining the bulk of its 2.5% month-to-date gain, which is the best among the major averages.
Today's action comes on lower than average volume and negative breadth figures. Decliners outpace advancers by a 3-to-2 margin on the NYSE and an 11-to-8 clip on the Nasdaq.
