Dow soars 900+ points Friday, led by Caterpillar, Home Depot, and AmEx; Verizon lags

[BRIEFING.COM] The Dow Jones Industrial Average (+2.04%) is in first place on Friday afternoon, up more than 913 points.

A look inside the DJIA shows that Caterpillar (CAT 437.08, +19.19, +4.59%), Home Depot (HD 413.57, +15.87, +3.99%), and American Express (AXP 319.91, +11.74, +3.81%) hold solid gains.

Meanwhile, Verizon (VZ 44.64, -0.39, -0.87%) is underperforming.

The DJIA is now up +3.55% month-to-date.

Elsewhere, at the top of the hour, Baker Hughes (BKR 44.59, +1.13, +2.60%) announced a weekly U.S. rotary rig count of 538, -1 w/w and -47 yr/yr.
