The financials sector (+0.4%) emerges as one of the top-performing S&P 500 sectors, led by strength in banking names such as Wells Fargo (WFC 82.97, +1.46, +1.79%) and Citigroup (C 97.18, +1.46, +1.53%).
Elsewhere in the sector, PayPal (PYPL 69.57, -0.61, -0.87%) gives back the bulk of yesterday's advance.
Today's gains position the sector as one of the best-performing sectors of this relatively quiet week so far, with a 0.5% week-to-date gain.
