[BRIEFING.COM] The major averages now trade near their session lows, with the Nasdaq Composite (+0.4%) leading the S&P 500 (-0.1%) and the DJIA (-0.7%).
This morning's opening buzz saw ten S&P 500 sectors open with early gains. The market has retreated in a similar broad-based manner, as only the information technology (+0.7%) and utilities (+0.7%) sectors trade above their flatlines.
Stocks of all sizes have been affected by the selling pressure. While the Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF (-0.1%) is now in negative territory, it still outperforms smaller-cap stock indices due to strength from Apple (AAPL 219.93, +6.68, +3.13%) and NVIDIA (NVDA 181.90, +2.48, +1.38%).
The Russell 2000 was up as high as 1.0%, but now holds a loss of 0.7%. The S&P Mid Cap 400 posts a similar loss of 0.5%.
