Utilities sector displays strength
Dow -226.87 at 43966.25, Nasdaq +119.43 at 21287.47, S&P +4.19 at 6349.25

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+0.1%) has pulled back from its opening gains that saw it come within 0.6 points of its all-time closing high (6,389.77).

Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite (+0.6%) retains the bulk of its early advance, and the DJIA (-0.5%) plots new session lows.

The utilities sector (+1.0%) now rivals the information technology sector (+1.0%) as the top-performing S&P 500 sector. The sector is benefitting from leadership in its largest component, NextEra Energy (NEE 72.30, +1.76, +2.50%), pushing past its 200-day moving average (72.06). 

Reported earlier, Wholesale Inventories for June increased 0.1% (Briefing.com consensus 0.2%) from a prior decrease of 0.3%.
