[BRIEFING.COM] The major averages are little changed from previous levels at midday.
Fifth Third (FITB 50.20, +1.04, +2.11%) and U.S. Bancorp (USB 54.82, +0.42, +0.76%) both trade higher after topping earnings estimates this morning, though broader weakness in the financials sector (-1.1%) keeps it firmly lower.
Meanwhile, the consumer staples and health care sectors have both returned to their flatlines as defensive-oriented sectors look to become the first to shake off this morning's weakness amid a clear risk off move in the market today. The majority of stocks in the consumer staples sector trade higher, though Walmart (WMT 118.16, -1.54, -1.29%), like most stocks of its size, trades considerably lower.
