Technology sector holds solid gain despite semiconductor weakness

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+0.3%) is charting new session (and therefore new all-time) highs at midday, while the Nasdaq Composite (+0.7%) continues to outperform, and the DJIA (-0.2%) lags.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite benefits from the information technology sector (+0.8%) steadily rising throughout the session. NVIDIA (NVDA 190.30, +3.06, +1.64%) and Microsoft (MSFT 487.82, +9.31, +1.95%) provide solid mega-cap leadership despite a majority of components trading lower.
Intel (INTC 43.42, +3.38, +8.43%) holds the widest gain in the sector, though chipmakers are generally lower today and giving back much of yesterday's strength, sending the PHLX Semiconductor Index 1.0% lower.
