Johnson & Johnson lower after earnings
Dow -166.84 at 51683.92, Nasdaq -31.55 at 27234.79, S&P -7.85 at 7799.46

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (-0.1%), Nasdaq Composite (-0.1%), and DJIA (-0.3%) remain modestly lower just after midday.

The health care sector (-1.3%) continues to jockey with the industrials sector (-1.0%) for the position of worst-performing S&P 500 sector, weighed down by weakness in Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), which is also the worst-performing DJIA component.

Johnson & Johnson (JNJ 245.62, -18.11, -6.87%) is under pressure following its Q3 earnings report, as disappointing growth in its MedTech business and a modest increase to full-year guidance overshadowed solid pharmaceutical sales growth. The company's earnings outlook also remains pressured by investments in its drug pipeline.
