[BRIEFING.COM] The major averages continue to drift lower.
Mega-cap stocks are a source of pressure today, weighing on the index level. The Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF is down 1.1 % as five of the "Magnificent Seven" names trade lower. Meta Platforms (META 745.72, -16.78, -2.20%) is a laggard after a solid start to the week that still leaves is up nearly 4% week-to-date, while Tesla (TSLA 368.94, -6.30, -1.68%) also underperforms and NVIDIA (NVDA 223.89, -4.63, -2.03%) lags amid broad weakness across semiconductor stocks.
Similar to yesterday's session, Apple (AAPL 344.39, +3.12, +0.91%) is charging to new record highs, helping soften relatively steep losses in the information technology sector (-1.4%), while Alphabet (GOOG 350.04, +0.52, +0.15%) clings to a slight gain.
