[BRIEFING.COM] The major averages remain little changed from previous levels amid a relative lack of corporate news items today.
The communication services sector (+0.2%) continues to wrestle with its flatline as Meta Platforms (META 701.23, -8.10, -1.14%) is a mega-cap laggard today ahead of its earnings release Wednesday afternoon, offsetting a nice gain in Alphabet (GOOG 340.16, +3.25, +0.96%).
Apple (AAPL 341.92, -1.54, -0.45%) is also a "Magnificent Seven" underperformer despite the company describing iPhone Duo preorder demand as "extraordinary,", according to Bloomberg, with initial delivery allocations exhausted within minutes and shipping estimates extending into January 2027.
