[BRIEFING.COM] The major averages trade on their highs with the S&P 500 (+0.7%) now just 39 points from its record high that was set in late July. The Dow (+0.3%) underperforms today, making for a continuation of its recent show of relative weakness, which is keeping the price-weighted index just above its lowest level since mid-June.

Today's underperformance in the Dow comes amid a soft showing from top component Goldman Sachs (GS 897.15, -5.41, -0.60%) and losses in roughly half of its remaining components. However, unlike Goldman Sachs, the broader financials sector (+0.8%) is among today's pockets of relative strength with most sector components on the rise.

Treasuries, meanwhile, sit on their lows lifting yields on the 10-yr note (+7 bps to 5.35%) and the 30-yr bond (+7 bps to 5.70%) to fresh highs for the year. On a related note, continuation of recent dollar strength has pushed the U.S. Dollar Index (+0.24% to 102.17) to levels last seen in April 2025.
