[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+0.5%), Nasdaq Composite (+0.6%), and DJIA (+0.7%) remain at session highs just after midday.
Stocks continue to see broad participation, leaving just the consumer staples sector (-0.1%) in negative territory.
However, the top-weighted information technology sector (+0.2%) holds the narrowest gain of the other ten S&P 500 sectors, which limits growth at the index level. In addition to relative weakness across semiconductor stocks (the PHLX Semiconductor Index is down 0.7%), Apple (AAPL 334.51, -5.91, -1.74%) is a mega-cap laggard after Nikkei reported that the company asked some suppliers to reduce component production for the iPhone refresh by up to 20%. Apple supplier Skyworks (SWKS 76.55, -4.20, -5.20%) is among the worst-performing S&P 500 names as a result.
