Alphabet and Amazon continue to struggle after their earnings reports
Dow -54.48 at 50132.45, Nasdaq -116.10 at 22986.40, S&P -4.87 at 6936.93

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (-0.1%), Nasdaq Composite (-0.5%), and DJIA (-0.1%) continue to trade modestly lower shortly after midday.

Alphabet (GOOG 311.31, -7.32, -2.30%) and Amazon (AMZN 202.70, -4.26, -2.06%) are both mega-cap laggards after reporting their earnings last week. Both stocks faced pressure after massive capital expenditure forecast prompted return on investment concerns amid the AI buildout cycle.

Alphabet was the "magnificent seven" darling of 2025 but sits in modestly negative territory for the year in 2026 after the earnings slide and broader weakness across mega-cap stocks.

Amazon, meanwhile, has yet to log a higher finish following its earnings report and is now down over 11.0% for the year.

The Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF is down 0.7% today.
