[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (-0.5%), Nasdaq Composite (-0.5%), and DJIA (-0.7%) have slumped a bit, now charting session lows.
Not much has changed at the sector level, but a slight widening of losses in the seven retreating sectors has the major averages giving back a sizable chunk of yesterday's advance.
The information technology sector (-0.6%) is nearing its session lows, with pressure across its chipmaker components sending the PHLX Semiconductor Index 1.0% lower. Memory storage names such as Western Digital (WDC 283.09, -13.47, -4.54%) and Seagate Tech (STX 404.95, -19.19, -4.52%) continue to see some choppy action, retreating after solid gains in the previous session.
Meanwhile, NVIDIA (NVDA 186.78, -1.20, -0.64%), like most mega-cap stocks, is lower today. The Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF is down 0.4%.
