Sector strength has improved throughout the session, leaving just three S&P 500 sectors in negative territory.
Only the energy sector (-0.7%) holds a loss wider than 0.3%, facing some modest pressure as the price of oil retreats $0.31 (-0.5%) to $66.02 per barrel.
