The top-weighted information technology sector (-0.6%) is now among today's laggards as the PHLX Semiconductor Index slides 1.5%. Coherent (COHR 351.68, -28.88, -7.59%) is the worst-performing S&P 500 stock, while memory names such as Sandisk (SNDK 1942.15, -148.56, -7.11%) and Micron (MU 1055.47, -76.86, -6.79%) hold similar losses, and INTC is a chipmaking laggard.
