[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+0.3%), Nasdaq Composite (+0.5%), and DJIA (-0.2%) have retreated from their opening highs.
Semiconductor stocks continue to lead the market, though the information technology sector (+0.6%) has ceded around half of its earlier strength as software names such as Oracle (ORCL 121.92, -4.48, -3.55%) face pressure while Apple (AAPL 326.79, -6.95, -2.08%) is a "Magnificent Seven" laggard. Strength in the broader market has deteriorated as well, with seven S&P 500 sectors now facing modest losses.
Oil prices continue to oscillate around their flat lines amid shifting geopolitical expectations. CNN recently reported that the U.S. is sending more aircraft to the Middle East as President Trump considers widening the war with Iran.
