[BRIEFING.COM] The major averages continue to trade in a mixed fashion.
The communication services sector (+1.1%) is now one of the top-performing S&P 500 sectors today, supported by solid gains in its mega-cap components Alphabet (GOOG 345.92, +4.17, +1.22%) and Meta Platforms (META 552.29, +2.39, +0.43%).
Five of the "Magnificent Seven" stocks trade higher today, with NVIDIA (NVDA 209.28, -5.44, -2.53%) and Tesla (TSLA 358.27, -4.59, -1.26%) the laggards. Even with the relative strength across the market's largest names, the Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF is down 0.6% as semiconductor stocks continue to move firmly lower. To that end, NVIDIA is on track for its seventh consecutive lower finish, which CNBC reports would be the longest streak since 2022.
