Gold Slumps 1.3% as Higher Yields, Dollar Offset Safe-Haven Demand
Dow -110.14 at 52463.15, Nasdaq -7.33 at 26346.75, S&P -15.79 at 7641.19

[BRIEFING.COM] The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (-0.03%) is down less than 8 points today, good enough for first place among the major averages.

Gold futures settled $57 lower (-1.3%) at $4,351.90/oz, as rising oil prices and hotter inflation fueled expectations for higher interest rates, pushing Treasury yields and the dollar higher. Higher yields and a stronger dollar weighed on gold, offsetting some safe-haven demand from Middle East tensions.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Dollar Index is now +0.3% higher to $99.42.
