[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+0.1%), Nasdaq Composite (+0.5%), and DJIA (-0.1%) are mixed just after the open, with the Nasdaq showing some early relative strength.

Six S&P 500 sectors trade higher, led by the communication services sector as Paramount Skydance (PSKY 10.60, +0.69, +6.96%) continues to build on yesterday's rally while Alphabet (GOOG 355.29, +4.42, +1.26%) stands out among the mega-cap names.

The broader technology landscape is not quite as enthusiastic as yesterday, though the information technology sector (+0.2%) sports a modest gain, supported by a 0.7% advance in the PHLX Semiconductor Index. Memory names are among the group's early outperformers.

Meanwhile, crude oil prices continue to retreat as the market awaits President Trump's address to the UN General Assembly. The energy sector is down 0.8%. The financials sector (-0.7%) is among the early laggards, weighing on the DJIA as major banking names move lower this morning.
