[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+0.5%), Nasdaq Composite (+1.0%), and DJIA (-0.1%) continue to move in a steady range at midday.
Expectations for the Fed to hold rates steady at the October FOMC meeting have continued to rise following this morning's cooler-than-expected August PCE price index. The CME FedWatch tool now assigns a 60.7% probability to an unchanged policy rate, up from 49.1% yesterday and 29.1% a week ago.
However, the move has had little effect on Treasury yields, with the 10-year note yield currently up three basis points to 5.29%.
